The Weekend

Saturday Nick's boss was going to take us out for dinner, so we spent the morning and afternoon together just walking around the city. We both had The Crumpet Shop on our minds because that place is just so darn yummy. On our way there we stopped in at Moore Coffee and Nick got some coffee . We came across this trio jazz band playing in the street and it was really awesome! They were very good, so we listened for a bit, got some crumpets, and then came back and listened to them some more. We went to see the sculpture park, which was really cool, and then we walked down to the water at the southmost tip of Myrtle Edward's Park which runs North West along the shore line of Elliot Bay and Puget Sound, West of the city. and Queen Anne. It was beautiful out, as it has been most of the time i've been here, and so we spent some time by the water. Nick skipped stones and i dipped my toes in the ice cold water, which was very refreshing.

Some homeless person was trowing food from the trash into the alley and feeding the seagulls

We went back to the hotel and got ready for dinner, which was really great. Nick's boss is a really cool guy, and his boyfriend was really sweet too. They took us to this mexican restaurant in East Lake, which is the area east of Union Lake, and we drank and ate and were merry. They drove us, and their friend who had met us with us at the restaurant, over to Gas Works Park at sunset, which was so different and so beautiful, the way the last bit of sunshine danced off the buildings in downtown as all the street lights twinkled on the water. It was great. I brought up Molly Moon's, so we went there for ice cream; you really can never go wrong with them, they are so good. We walked around Cal Anderson Park which is just across the street from Molly Moon's. There is a cool fountain and so we strolled around a bit before we went back to the car and Josh and Mike took us home. It was a really fun time.

Bye bye sunshine

Look at them over there, just glowing like heavenly tokens of gold

Sunday we hungout with Katie. We were going to get brunch with her but Nick and i just didn't get out of bed in time. We bused up to Capitol Hill after a big fiasco about where and how i would break a $50 bill on a Sunday, but we found a Walgreens and i got some cashews so i was happy. We met up at the farmer's market, walked over to a coffee shop, and then went to the Mexican restaurant, that was previously a KFC, for lunch. Matt met us there. After eating we walked over to Sumptown Coffee to do coffee cupping* which is like wine tasting but with coffee and is incredibly pretentious but really fun and you get free coffee out of it. We got there early so Katie showed us this crazy church on the campus of Seattle City College. It had some weird architecture. I took a bunch of photos for my mom because  thought she'd enjoy it.

The coffee shop in Capitol Hill had a really cool cold brew too!

Cupping was interesting. I mostly stood off to the side and sneaked peeks at the football (sorry, soccer) game (it was USA and Portugal). The coffee was really good though! Molly Moon's has a Sumptown Coffee ice cream flavor that is really yummy so i expected good things. After cupping we headed over to this cupcake shop and got two really yummy cupcakes, and Nick got three cookies because he's not a huge cupcake fan. One was triple Chocolate and one was white cake with lavender frosting. The lavender frosting was so good! After that Nick and i headed home. It was warm and sunny out and i felt lazy so i said we should walk. We checked out a big warehouse store filled with music and dvds and vinyl, where i found Home Movies Season 2 for $2.50, and Twin Peaks Boxset for $15 (that i so0o0 wanted to buy but didn't because how would i get that home?). Then we found this game store and the really nice girl working was like "Hey, we have a game room bar thing up the street if you want to play games" and we were like "yeah", and so we played chess and drank beer, till i won chess, and then we finally walked the rest of the way home.
