Tuesday and Wednesday

Tuesday i did the laundry. I have gone in once a week since i've been here and so i've made friends with one the people who works at the laundromat. Her name is Katie and she is the owner of Poe. We talked about places i should really see before i leave because i only have two more weeks here. She pulled up Capitol Hill on google maps and showed me all the places to check out. She offered to watch my things and said i should go walk over to volunteer park. So i did. It was a really great place.I took a bunch of pictures too. We made plans to hangout later in the week.

Someone's mossy stairs

There are some really beautiful homes

I like how the roof was covered in moss

This one felt really spooky

The water tower in Volunteer Park

Volunteer Park has a big giant water tower in it, that was built in the early 1900's, though i don't know if it is still used as a water reservoir, and there is an open reservoir elsewhere in the park. The Seattle Museum of Asian Art is located in Volunteer Park, and there is a conservancy, as well as a bandstand which is still used for concerts. Adjacent to the park is a cemetery where Bruce Lee is buried. It's a really pretty park, very green and lush and far enough away from the inner city to not have too many homeless.

On my way up the stairs to the observation deck at the top

There are two of these big spiral staircases that both bring you to the top

Deer man waves at you forever

Wednesday i decided to head down to Chinatown. On my way i stopped to watch a young man and an old man play chess with a giant chess board. It was really fun, the old man won. Chinatown was sad and kind of depressing. I got a beef bun and went to a few different places looking for green tea ice cream mochi balls. Everything was run down, dirty and broken. It was sad to see so much of a city just left to rot. I'm sure the city doesn't give a lot o funding to that part of the city, but there was a building that took up half a city block that was just boarded up and evacuated. The windows of the top floor were all broken and the store fronts all still had merchandise in them. It felt so eerie and sad.

Chinatown

Some pretty packaging

Beef and onion steam bun. easy to eat while walking around

Hoody billy lives on

Chow Mein, Dancing

This is that building. The sidewalk is ever closed. It just doesn't seem like anything is getting done about it.

So many trash cans

The section of weird fruit

The section of weird vegtables

Love the golden glow

Tea boxes

oysters

Sea food

These are so weird to me.

But so many cute bowls

I want so many of these

I ended up going to this huge Japanese market to look for green tea mochi ice cream balls, and i found some but they were like 6 to a pack and i don't have a freezer. I noticed they had a two pack, but they didn't have any green tea ones, only every other flavor option. So i just walked around and took pictures. I ended up buying a pair of chopsticks and then heading home.

After Chinatown i went home and then Nick his brother, his brother's girlfriend, and i went to the YMCA again. I couldn't do any squats because i was still sore so i did some upper body stuff. It's weird going to the gym for me because it's never been something i do. But i like it. I like the challenge.
